    get in my belly!
So, here is a picture of where my teaching money has gone. Well, this and shopping, and whiskey, and eating out with my old man, and...

I got another tattoo before this one, last semester. I'll get a picture of that soon. By the way, "Porkchop" was the nickname my grandpa on my mom's side gave me. He died in December 1999, 5 years before the day I got this tattoo (just the outline, I got the fill-in this past weekend). He never called me by my actual name my whole life, always Porkchop, even when introducing me to strangers. Apparently, I could really put those suckers away when I was kid. I barely had teeth to chew, but I hear I could eat like 4 porkchops in a sitting, when I was about 2 or something. I got my love of reading the classics from him. I remember he bought me a beautiful leather bound edition of The Pilgrim's Progress when I was like 8. He had it engraved in fancy calligraphy on the inside cover, "To Porkchop, Love Grandpa Carl". I think the fancy font of that inscription is what sparked the idea for this tattoo. I hated the nickname while he was alive to be honest, but as the 5th anniversary of his death got closer, I realized it was a cool nickname, and I wish I could've known this family member better while he was alive. Unfortunately, my mom and all my aunts and uncles hated him, and that influenced me to not try to understand him while he was alive. The day he died I wrote a poem, that I wish I could've read at his funeral (but I was in school), and only when getting the inspiration for the poem did I begin to maybe understand him.

So now I'm a 7 1/2-year vegetarian, with the word "PORKCHOP" printed indelibly on my body. It's weird how people can influence your thoughts and actions, even when they're gone.

(That's my sexA stomach, by the way. I'm a thug 4 life.

Current Mood: I have to go to the bathroom
    Current Music: teeth-grinding
